In just three decades, hospice care has quietly revolutionized the way people live their last months, weeks and days of life, by honoring wishes and bringing peace, dignity, and comfort to millions of patients and families. Ogeechee Area Hospice has been a part of this compassionate care revolution for over 15 years. Ogeechee Area Hospice was founded in 1994 as the first hospice to serve Bulloch and surrounding counties of the Ogeechee river region. We continue today to be the only not-for-profit hospice agency in our service area. Ogeechee Area Hospice is governed by a 10 member Board of Directors, each of whom offer their volunteer time and energy to ensure that the finest professional care and compassionate support to patients and their families never waivers. Because there is no "owner" or group of investors to pay, reimbursement and other funding goes directly toward patient care, and this translates into a higher level of available services for each patient. We accomplish this with a commitment to promoting human dignity and a spirit of compassion, choice, respect and cooperation. With a rich history of community support patients and their families under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice, whether at home, in a nursing home, assisted living facility or under general inpatient care, benefit from care that extends beyond regulatory guidelines;
Ogeechee Area Hospice exists for the sole mission of providing skilled comfort and bereavement support to persons affected by a life threatening illness and/or grief. Our team of nurses, social workers, home health aides, bereavement counselors, volunteers, chaplains and physicians work diligently to provide this expert care during the last months, weeks and days of life. This is accomplished through a commitment of promoting human dignity and a common spirit of compassion, choice, respect and cooperation. |
